BFD in Pro Tools: Normal Cymbal Rings
If you are working with FXpansion BFD and just can't get your cymbals and drums to ring out, here are a few things to try.
First off, you should have at least 1024 MB of RAM. Secondly, make sure that any extraneous programs are not running. Then try adjusting the following parameters.
In the Options panel of BFD...
Make sure "Preview RAM only" is not turned on.
Increase the "Max cache buffs" (96 max) and "Max voices" (96 max) parameters.
Increase the "RAM cache" (65536 max) and the "Stream buffer size" (65536 max).
BFD will take CONSIDERABLY LONGER to load the files the first time, but the cymbals and drums will ring out correctly. Your song will probably play better after the first run through since the files are now loaded in the cache.
