Disguising Your Mistakes
Don't show your mistakes! Here's why...
First BAD. Once in a while we all hit a note that isn't quite "right". But the fact is, it's not a bad note or even a wrong note, because - are you ready for the first tip? THERE ARE NO WRONG NOTES! Huh?
Any note you hit on the neck is basically one-half step away from the note that either you meant to play or the crowd expected to hear. And a half-step is pretty close shooting. Thus, any note you hit is only a quick and easy half-step slide, hammer-on, or pull-off away from any other note. We guitar players are lucky folks. Just go one fret up or down the neck and you'll have the "right" note you were looking for. Go from there. Slick!
Second BAD. I know a very talented guitarist who just plain wails. A really good player. The problem is, he doesn't know there are no "BAD" notes. Bigger problem is, every time he hits a "BAD" note, he screws up his face and flails around for that "right" note. Ugh! Now the whole crowd knows he blew it! If he had just gone a half step in either direction (and not made the cranky face!) nobody would have ever known there was a problem. Stop with the faces!
So, what all this means is:
There are no BAD notes, just the BAD look on your face.
or
If the crowd knows I blew it, it's n-n-n-n-n nobody's fault but mine! Or yours...
