Stands, both mic stands and amp stands, are another gear accessory where it does not pay to try and save a buck.
Imagine this scenario: You finally buy the mic you should be using, carefully place it onto a cheap mic stand, and then watch the whole thing lazily tumble to the floor. Crash! Bye, bye Mr. Microphone!
C'mon, if you are going to be a pro and get a good mic to begin with, don't scrimp on the stand that holds it! A good boom mic stand or short vertical mic stand not only holds your precious mic secure, but it also allows you to place the mic exactly where you want it.
